John Kudlacek received a BFA in Art and Art Education from the University of Nebraska. He continued his study receiving a Masters in Art Education from Penn State University. He taught in public school in Beatrice, Nebraska, at Emporia State University. He now resides in Topeka, Kansas. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and many juried and invitational shows. He is represented in public and private collections in the U.S. and Europe including the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague and the Bechyne Ceramics Museum.
Much of his work is not functional in a utilitarian sense, the pot or vessel being used as a starting point and the nature of the container setting welcome parameters. His goal is work which has the vitality of organic forms but in a geometric context.
